A woman was found unconscious and dead inside her home at Hongasandra, Bengaluru, on Saturday. The discovery was made when her friend, concerned after Jayamma, a housewife, failed to respond to repeated calls, reached her house. After knocking on the door without any response, the friend contacted the house owner, who opened the door with a spare key. Inside, they found Jayamma’s lifeless body.
The police have identified Jayamma as a woman who had lived separately from her husband for 20 years and shared the house with her younger son. At the time of the incident, the younger son was away on duty in Anekal. The police suspect that Jayamma’s elder son, who has a strained relationship with his younger brother, might be involved in her death.
Upon investigation, the police found no obvious injuries on her body, except for a mark on her temple, raising suspicions that she might have been smothered. A post-mortem report is awaited to determine the exact cause of death.
The Bommanahalli police have filed a case and are working on piecing together the events leading up to Jayamma’s death. Investigations are ongoing to identify the motive and bring the culprit to justice.
