Bengaluru: Pushpa Amarnath has now taken charge as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) women’s wing president here on Monday, November 19. She was handed the Congress flag by former President Lakshmi Hebbalkar as an official announcement and shift of responsibility.
After taking charge as the president, she addressed the pressperson and expressed how it was her privilege to take up this responsibility on the ocassion of the 101st birthday of Indira Gandhi.
Pushpa Amarnath now succeeds Lakshmi Hebbalkar who is a controversial MLA from Belagavi Rural constituency and also said to be a close associate of the irrigation minister DK Shivakumar.
According to sources Amarnath’s appointment as the president has come per the wishes of AICC president Rahul Gandhi after he interviewed two seperate candidates for the post.
