Bengaluru: A new policy will be framed to fix the price of land allocated through Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) to root out the existing anomalies, said an official on Friday.

“There are several anomalies regarding fixing the land rates for the allocation of land by KIADB. It is necessary to adopt a scientific way in this regards,” said an official.

Medium and Large Scale Industries Minister Jagdish Shettar has directed officials to initiate action to bring separate policies to old and new cases with regard to land allotment.

“There is a lot of delay in compensating the land owners. In some cases, landlords need to visit offices to get relief for several years,” said Shettar, asking officials to set the guidelines for the acquisition and settlement of land within a time limit.

Currently, several anomalies are plaguing the land rates, drawing complaints from a number of industrialists and industry associations, highlighting varying land prices at the time of allotment and at the time of sale deed.

Similarly, the minister has also directed for a land audit detailing the extent of industrial land use in the southern state.

The survey will also gather information on the extent of land acquired so far by KIADB, land allotted to the industry, details of industries started in the allotted land, reason for non-commencement of industries after allocating the land and others.

“Industrialists do not have accurate information on industrial areas and the availability of land with KIADB Industrialists should have access to information regarding land including photographs, videos, distance from the main road, which should be uploaded on the website,” said the official.

Meanwhile, Shettar revealed that many associations and organisations have applied for land to build housing projects but the sites have not been allocated.

He said a committee has been formed on that issue to expedite the allocation process.
