Bengaluru: The garbage collection has been stopped in many places across the city especially in the West Bengaluru following the additional conditions imposed by the BBMP for those who won new garbage contracts. As a result, the general public alleged that black spots are being created.
According to the BBMP sources, after the tenders are finalized the BBMP included a new condition that the garbage must be collected in tippers and not in goods vehicles. Upset by the inclusion of the new condition several contractors have decided not to lift the garbage.
As a result, since last 2-3 days garbage is not collected in many places especially in West Bengaluru. The residents are forced to keep garbage inside the home. In many places, the black spots are created with locals dumping the garbage on the roadside.
Shashiprabha HK, a resident of Jalahalli said since Friday the door to door collection of the garbage stopped in the area. “We don’t know the reason. We are forced to throw the garbage in the public place,” she said.
According to D Randeep, special commissioner, solid waste management informed that he is aware of the problem. ” Ihave directed the BBMP authorities to use the corporation vehicles for the garbage disposal. Orders are issued to stop the payment for those contractors who are not lifting the garbage,” he said.
