New Year celebrations: Traffic restrictions in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The City traffic police have restricted the vehicles movement in and around MG Road Brigade Road, Residency Road, St. Mark’s Road and Church Street on the night intervening between December 31 and January 1, 2017 in the interest of public safety and convenience on the eve of New Year.

No Entry: There will be no entry for vehicles except police vehicles and vehicles of essential services on duty, from any direction from the following roads. MG Road, from Anil Kumble junction up to the junction with Residency road near the Mayo Hall. Brigade Road, from Cauvery Emporium Junction up to the Opera Junction.

Church Street, from its Junction on Brigade Road up to the junction of Museum road. Museum road, from its junction with the MG Road up to its junction with Old Madras Bank road.

Rest House road, from its junction on Museum road up to its junction on Brigade Road. Kamaraj Road, from Cauvery Emporium junction to Cubbon Road junction and Cubbon Road junction to Arts and Crafts Emporium. Residency Cross road, from Residency Road to MG Road (Shankarnag Theatre junction).

Parking Ban: Parking of all types of vehicles except police vehicles and vehicles of essential services on duty is prohibited from 4pm on December 31 to 3 am on January 1, 2015 on the following roads.

MG Road, from Anil Kumble junction up to Trinity Circle. Brigade Road, from Arts and Crafts junction up to Opera Junction. Church Street, from its junction with Brigade road up to its junction on St. Mark’s Road. Rest House Road, from its junction on Brigade road up to its junction with Museum Road.

Museum Road, from its Junction on MG Road up to its Junction with Old Madras Bank Road.

Traffic diversion: The vehicles coming from the direction of Queen’s Statue junction on MG Road and proceeding towards Ulsoor and beyond will turn left at Anil Kumble Circle, at BRV Junction, turn right into Cubbon road and proceed on Cubbon Road and join MG Road near Webb’s junction. Vehicles proceeding in the direction of Cantonment areas, from Ulsoor will turn right near Trinity Circle and enter Ulsoor road, turn left on Dickenson road and proceed towards Cubbon Road.

Magarath Road has been closed from Garuda Mall towards Brigade road due to ongoing BBMP work. To reach Brigade road take a right turn at commissariate road and move on Markham road.

One way walk: On Brigade road pedestrians only can precede by walk from MG Road junction to opera junction and walking in the opposite direction is prohibited. Instead if they want to come to MG Road they can do so by proceeding via Residency road cross (near Shankarnag theatre cross).

Flyovers closed: All the Flyovers (Mysore road, Hosur road, Richmond road, ITC Flyover) will be closed for movement of traffic at 9 pm on December 31, till 6 am on January 1.

The traffic police advised to avail public transport service such as BMTC and Namma Metro due to restrictions of parking of vehicles in and around Brigade Road, M.G. Road, Church Street, Rest House Road, Residency Road etc. “Special appeal to the joyous public celebrating the New Year Eve especially with drinks, that if they are in a group at least one person who holds the steering of the motor vehicle and or the rider of Two Wheeler to abstain from consuming alcohol and carry his friends safely and ensure his own safety and safety of other road users, which helps to keep the New Year celebration accident free and people friendly,’’ the traffic police said in a release.
