Bengaluru: Excise Minister H Nagesh announced that the state government is considering selling liquor at a subsidised rate for the poor.
Speaking to the reporters, he stated that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the fact that the poor end up drinking low-quality alcohol, which can be detrimental to their health. “Our idea is to provide good quality liquor to poor at affordable price,” he said adding that the final decision in this regard will be taken soon.
He also announced that from January, all the bars and restaurants will be allowed to function till 2 am.
“It is our idea to reach the target of revenue,” he said.
