Bengaluru: The members of Indian Medical Association’s (IMA’s) core committee plans to meet in New Delhi on Monday to oppose the proposed National Medical Commission (NMC), a Bill which has been tabled in the Lok Sabha.
The core committee meeting will decide on the association’s future course of action. The medical body has been arguing that the commission will “seriously impede the democratic functioning of the medical profession”.
Meanwhile, the association has also formed teams of 50 doctors each to meet the MPs and appeal to them to not allow the Bill to be approved in the Parliament.
“I want the Central Government to withdraw the proposed NMC Bill since it not only affects medical establishments but also people’s health. Will allopathy treatment by doctors completed five-and-half years course and those completed bridge course be the same?’’ asked Dr H.N. Ravindra, executive committee member of Medical Council of India.
