No celebration on New Year Eve, over 100 CCTV set up in B’luru’s MG Road

Bengaluru: This year, CCTVs, barricades, and lines of policemen could be seen on Brigade Road and MG Road, which are usually decked out with lights and decor to welcome the New Year.

On Sunday December 26, more than 100 CCTV cameras has been installed on MG Road. Barricades and checkpoints will also be set up in several places around MG Road and Brigade Road. This comes after the Bengaluru City Police announced that New Year Eve celebrations on MG Road and Brigade Road will be prohibited due to concerns about the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

The police had announced that there would be no New Year’s Eve celebrations on Brigade Road and MG Road on Saturday, and that a meeting between police officers would be held to assess what measures would be taken. Members of the Brigade Road Shops and Establishments’ Association have also announced that no celebrations will be held on Brigade Road on the New Year Eve.
