Bengaluru: Two months ago, the state was reeling under an acute shortage of Covid 19 vaccines. Many missed the doses due to the short supply. However, now the private hospitals are facing another problem. It is the problem of plenty.

According to the sources in the state health department, over 2 lakh doses of Covid 19 vaccines are now in stock in various private hospitals. With no demand, the hospitals are struggling to clear the stock.

According to the estimation, private hospitals have 1.50 lakh doses of Covishield and 50,000 doses of covaxin.

High cost of the vaccines and easy availability of vaccines in the government hospitals had made the people to opt for free vaccination drives.

Dr. HM Prasanna, President, Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association urged the state and central governments to find a solution for this problem. “If the governments fail to act in the future, private hospitals mat not join hands with government in any vaccination drives,” he said.
