Bengaluru: Janata Dal (S) MLA YSV Datta on Thursday described former prime minister H D Deve Gowda as a Supreme Court and he does not need to worry about political future and certainly not necessary to quit JD(S) as long as Deve Gowda supports him.

Speaking with media persons here, MLA Datta said that he was not happy with reports appearing in a section of the media about him. “It is quite disturbing to see such reports in the media. There are reports about my plan to quit JD(S) and join Congress since I have been moving closely with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The media has attributed my failure in finding a place in the recently constituted core committee of the JD(S) as the reason for me to contemplate quitting JD(S). I was never a member of JD(S) core committee. The media reports claim that JD(S) does not want to give me the ticket to contest from Kadur assembly segment in the next elections,’’ Datta said.

Denying the rumours about his joining Congress, Datta said that he was in touch with all authorities, including ministers and chief minister, for the development Kadur assembly segment. “It does not mean that I am close to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and JD(S) leadership is not happy with me. During a recent visit to Kadur, my supreme leader Deve Gowda has made it clear that JD(S) will field all its 40 MLAs in the next elections to the State Assembly. So, when a supreme leader Deve Gowda has made it clear, where is the need for me to worry about my political future? I have been associated with Deve Gowda for four decades. I started my career with during Jayaprakash Narayan’s Sarvodaya movement. All these years I have been associated with Deve Gowda. I can’t say anything if the constitution of the JD(S) is amended but I wanted to make it clear that there is no need for me to worry as long as Deve Gowda supports me. I will continue to be associated with Deve Gowda,’’ he said.
