Bengaluru: For the first time in recent years, the state government will not confer state Rajyotsava awards on the day of Kannada Rajyotsava.
Every year on November 1 evening, achievers are conferred with Kannada Rajyotsava award. This year due to the election campaign, the state government was not able to finalise the list of awardees. As a result on Thursday evening, the award conferring event has been canceled.
However, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy attributed the code of conduct for cancellation of the event. “The list of winners will be announced soon. After that an event will be organised in Bengaluru and awards will be given away,” he stated.
According to the sources, the state government had received more than 2,000 applications. Under the political pressure, the government was not able to shortlist the winners.
