Bengaluru: Following the reports of Norovirus outbreaks in Kerala’s Wayanad, the District administrations of Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada have issued a high alert.
Thirteen students from a veterinary college in Wayanad District were infected with Norovirus, and at least a dozen others are said to be showing symptoms.
According to the sources, the District Administrations of Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada, which share a border with Kerala, have ordered field surveillance staff to safeguard community water sources such as community wells. Drinking water that has been disinfected with chlorine has been recommended.
According to the Kodagu Administration, the disease is highly contagious but pre-emptive screening is not possible until patients develop symptoms like as nausea, diarrhoea, or vomiting, according to the Dakshina Kannada Administration. Students have also been urged not to eat stale food from hotels near college campuses by District Administrations.
