Bengaluru: One person, alleged to have involved in various crimes in Bengaluru, was shot dead during an operation by the police to nab him on Monday.
The police have identified the deceased as Ashik, a resident of Mahalakshmi Layout. According to the police sources, Ashik was shot dead after he allegedly attempted to attack the police team with a machete. It was said the police team was on the lookout for Dadiya Santosh, a rowdy-sheeter, and his five associates wanted in an attempt to murder and other criminal cases.
The police succeeded in nabbing Dadiya Santosh and two others on Ulla Main Road. Based on the statements of the accused during interrogation, two more accused Ashik and Kalli Ramesh were traced to a house at Health layout in Annapoorneshwari Nagar. The police team led by Mahalakshmi Layout police inspector B B Mallur cornered the accused but the latter started to attack the policemen with a machete. Roopa Tambad, a woman police sub-inspector, was injured. Inspector Mallur sustained injuries to the chest and fired in self defence. Both the police officials are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
