Bengaluru: In the last five years, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has spent as much as Rs.215 Crore towards making the city roads pothole-free. However, even after spending such a huge sum, the city roads continue to witness potholes.
In the financial year 2017-18, a huge sum of Rs.147.8 Crores was spent on the pothole filling followed by Rs. 49.2 Crore next year. In the financial year 2019-20, Rs.54.8 Crore was spent to fill potholes. It was Rs.16.4 Crore next year. In the financial year 2021-22, amid Covid – 19 crisis, the BBMP spent Rs.47 Crore on the pothole filling.
This data has been submitted by the BBMP to the State Government raising questions about the quality of patchworks.
Meanwhile, the BBMP enabled the city residents to lodge the complaint related to potholes on the Fix My Street app.
