Bengaluru: “During Rahul Gandhi’s state visit over farmers’ distress, a proper package for the farmers will be declared”, said former MP and actress turned politician Ramya here on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters Ramya said, “Rahul Gandhi was supposed to visit the state in August. But due to elections and many other reasons it was delayed. Now he will be visiting state for two days and the kin of the deceased farmers. He will also boost confidence among the distressed farmers”.

“State government has compensated the kin of the deceased farmers. Nevertheless, Rahul Gandhi during his visit will discuss this crucial issue with state leaders. After discussion as to how the farmers can be helped, the government will announce better package for the farmers. Wait and watch to know what will be the package, she said.

Expressing dissatisfaction over media reports that crop was destroyed for Rahul Gandhi’s visit, she said, “Rahul is visiting the state with concern for distressed farmers. No one has destroyed their crop. The farmer himself has cleared maize grown on four acres of land after harvest from his land. He himself has given statement about it. Still, there were reports in media that crops were destroyed for the Congress vice president’s rally”.

She also added that Rahul Gandhi has been fighting in support of farmers and he will be the voice for farmers.

“Rahul is slated to meet the families of farmers who have committed suicide due to crop failure. He will also hold a nine kilometre padyatra followed by Congress convention”, she said.

Earlier Actor and former Lok Sabha member Ramya launched an app for personal safety named AVA along with its supporting app Save My Soul. S.R. Patil, Minister for Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka on Thursday was also present.

Developed, designed and manufactured entirely in Bengaluru, AVA by Save My Soul is a safety enabler App-Ware. It works using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and syncs with smartphones that have Android OS version 4.4 to 5.1 and iOS version 7 and above. Following rigorous research and development, the team at BMS Innolabs have designed AVA keeping in mind various parameters and scenarios where an individual’s safety may be compromised.

To make the app easy and keep the size small, the device can be activated with a simple click. It can pass off as a key chain or bag charm, not drawing attention to it and alerting a possible attacker to its presence. The device requires a smart phone to pair with the app and work seamlessly.

The launch was also attended by Dinesh Gundurao,  Minister for Food and Civil Supplies; NS Megharikh, IPS, City Police Commissioner; Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, IAS, Director Sakala and Secretary to Department of Administrative Reforms; Priyank Kharge, Honourable Member of Legislative Assembly, Chittapur.
