Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, said on Sunday March 13 that they will have to build a narrative based on national leadership while avoiding the caste matrix, to win the 2023 Assembly elections.

“The party will come back to power on its own in 2023, winning even the seats it lost in 2018. People in the four states where the BJP won set caste aside and accepted our party’s principles, including Hindutva and nationalism. We have to adapt that strategy to set our agenda for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls. We have the strength of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name,” said CM Bommai.

He was speaking after thanking Union ministers Pralhad Joshi and Shobha Karandlaje, National General Secretary C. T. Ravi, and leader Mahesh Tenginakayi, who were In-Charge of elections in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, and Manipur.

“The media analyses were based on caste equations, but the results taught a lesson to those who voted based on caste. The four states which the BJP won under the leadership of national Party President J. P. Nadda, Prime Minister Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are culturally different, and the result showed that the party’s ideology has been accepted by people across the country,” he added.

Joshi, noting how the Modi-Shah leadership overturned the party’s first-round defeat in Uttarakhand, claimed it could be done in Karnataka as well. “We still have a year until the polls, and it will be difficult but not impossible because Bommai has presented a budget that includes representation for every district,” he said.
