Bengaluru/Mandya: An unusual incident of a man being washed away in the VC canal was reported during the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s Janata Dal (S)-Congress rally in Pandavapura in the evening of Saturday, October 27.
According to the police, as part of the Mandya Lok Sabha by-election, CM Kumaraswamy was addressing a JDS-Congress rally in Pandavapura. At that time, a person by name Kumar (40) was washed away in the VC canal.
The deceased Kumar is a resident of Jakkanahalli in Pandavapura. According to police, Kumar accidentally fell into the VC canal and was washed away. His body was retrieved immediately.
CM HDK assured of compensation to the family of the deceased person.
“As election code of conduct is on, I cannot announce the amount here. Once elections are over, I will announce the details,” he stated.
In the rally, CM HDK also changed his statement on his death. Altering his yesterday’s statement that he might die any time, he stated that he would live till 85 years.
“I have confidence that I will live till 85 years,” he said.
