Bengaluru: The PM must convene a meeting of all three CMs of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa in order to ensure supply of drinking water to the people of Karnataka by resolving the Mahadayi river-water, said CM Siddaramaiah here on saturday.
Speaking to the media CM said that state had done everything to ensure that the people’s demands are met, including taking an all-party delegation to the PM.

“The Centre can amicably settle the issue outside the tribunal by convening a meeting all the three CMs. The PM must come to the rescue of people of the Karnataka instead of meting out step-motherly treatment. He appears to have no interest in settling the issue. If he is willing, it will end amicably,” Siddaramaiah said.

The CM also appealed to farmers to give up their agitation as the government was doing everything in their support.

The agitation has entered its third month in Nargund and Navalgund of Gadag district. The protesters are demanding that the Goa government release Mahadayi water into the Kalasa-Banduri diversion canals.

Siddaramaiah earlier held a meeting with senior police officers to review the law- and-order situation in the state in view of the bandh called by various organisations expressing solidarity with the Kalasa- Banduri agitators.
