Bengaluru: A 19-year-old boy, allegedly assaulted and poisoned by a friend five weeks ago, died on Friday. However, the victim who wrote down the names of his perpetrators ensured that they are nabbed and brought to book.
A resident of Lakshmidevi Nagar, Sachin was a fifth semester student at a private college. On January 19, he was playing cricket when his friend Praveen sought some money. Sachin refused. Praveen called some friends and the group allegedly assaulted Sachin. To mislead the police, they allegedly poisoned him and later left him on the railway tracks near Yeshwantpur.
Passers-by informed the police, who rushed him to hospital. Sachin was taken to Victoria Hospital, and later to Srinivasa Hospital. Police could make out from the injuries that he had been attacked.
After battling for life for over a month, Sachin died on Friday night. Before his death, he had written down the names of the boys who had attacked him, but could not testify verbally. He had scribbled down five names to help police nab his assailants.
