Bengaluru: The special team of Bellandur, Marthahalli and HAL police stations has arrested three persons on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping a 17-year-old girl and forcing her into flesh trade in New Delhi.
The police have identified the arrested persons as Shiva alias Shivashankar, a resident of Marathahalli, Rajesh Kumar and Chotu Ramden, both residents of Delhi. The accused were arrested based on the girl’s statement.
The girl went missing from her residence on August 8 and based on her parents’ statements, police questioned Shivashankar. He had approached the girl with a job offer in Delhi. Shivashankar, who had been absconding since August, would approach families with low income and lure them with handsome jobs in north India, the family told police.
“The victim’s friends and others told us that Shivashankar might be the person behind the missing of the girl,” police said.
Police nabbed Shivashankar recently and based on his statement, rescued the girl from a hotel in Delhi.
Whitefield Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Ahad said Shivashankar had sold the victim to a woman for Rs 70,000. “The girl told us that Shivashankar had promised her the job of a maid and took her to Delhi. But she was forced into prostitution,” he said.
Additional Commissioner of Police Seemanth Kumar Singh appreciated the special police team for successfully detecting the case.
