Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday flagged off 16 vehicles equipped with emission checking equipment. These vehicles are expected to patrol the streets of Bengaluru to check polluting vehicles.

According to Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) chairman Lakshman,  the emission tests would be done with the help of these mobile vehicles and cases would be registered against those vehicles that exceed national standards.  Among the 16 mobile vehicles, 12 will be deployed at various places in Bengaluru and other vehicles will be for Dharward, Kalburgi, Mangaluru and Mysuru.

Lakshman said the smoke density of diesel vehicles and the emission level of carbon monoxide (CO) and Hydro Carbon (HC) of petrol vehicles can be measured with the help of these mobile vehicles. “The testing of emission will be done by the KSPCB in association with traffic police and transport department (road safety) in Bengaluru and other cities,’’ Lakshman said.
