Bengaluru: BJP national president Amit Shah has directed Union Minister Prakash Javadekar to seek an explanation from state BJP leaders for the poor turnout at last week’s Nava Karnataka Parivartana Yatra. Minister Prakash Javadekar is lection in-charge of Karnataka.
According to reliable sources, Javadekar has convened a meeting of party leaders in Bengaluru on Wednesday (November 8).
It is learnt the BJP has taken the issue seriously and wants to fix accountability on those involved in organizing the yatra which was flagged off by Amit Shah from Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre grounds on Tumakauru Road on November 2.
The sources opined that the venue which sees less public movement was a wrong choice and also local leaders took it for granted that there would be a huge crowd as the yatra had been hyped.
They said an audience of not less than 50,000 could have been mobilized if th three MPs from Bengaluru, 100 BBMP corporators and 12 MLAs had taken the initiative.
The sources said the yatra got a warm reception in Hassan on Monday and it will gain momentum when it reaches coastal and North Karnataka districts where the BJP has a hold.
