Bengaluru: One of the common portraits of a postman is of him riding a bicycle and ringing bells. However, soon, our postmen also will come in e-bikes. The silicon City is witnessing a silent e-bike revolution.
For the first time in the country, the postmen in Bengaluru will arrive in e-bikes instead of bicycles. This drive has been taken up on a pilot basis.
This project has been implemented in the JP Nagar Sub-Post Office area 15 postmen have been given these e-bikes. They are delivering the posts on these bikes since October 14.
According to the postal staff, this initiative is very positive one. These bikes are painted blue and recharged daily through a firm.
According to L. K. Dash Director Postal Services at Department of Posts, if this pilot project implementation is successful, then it will be expanded to more post offices.
