Bengaluru: Fisheries minister Pramod Madhwaraj has given way for a new controversy by skipping the Tipu Jayanti celebrations organised by the Udupi district administration on Friday in the DC office auditorium. As per the invite sent by the District Administration, Pramod Madhwaraj was supposed to preside over the event, but Pramod Madhwaraj skipped the event.
Interestingly, he arrived about 10 minutes after the event concluded.
It can be recalled that political pundits are speculating that Pramod Madhwaraj may switch over to the BJP before next assembly election.
Speaking to reporters, Pramod Madhwaraj stated he didn’t attend many jayantis and he has the right to take a decision in which Jayanti he should participate and which he should skip. “There is no need to attach such great importance to the absence, ” he said.
Meanwhile, Udupi city police arrested 50 BJP activists who tried to hold protest against Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
