Bengaluru: Following the series of protests by various student groups, the administration of Bangalore University (BU) banned protests on the campus. Instead, it has asked the students to hold protest
With this BU becomes the first university in the State to ban protests in the campus. However, students have continued to hold protests in the campus crippling the academic and administrative activities of the university.
A section of students and research scholars are demanding immediate appointment of a new Vice Chancellor to the University citing recent High Court judgment which cancelled the appointment of the incumbent VC K. R. Venugopal.
On evening of Thursday March 31, a section of students even painted the HC order on the doors of VC office.
The State Government is likely to take a decision on the appointment of a new VC in a few days. With Venugopal being the handpicked candidate of the RSS there is a delay in the decision taking process.
