Bengaluru: The CID issued a third notice to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesperson and Chittapur MLA Priyank Kharge, who is being investigated for suspected irregularities in the appointment of 545 police Sub-Inspectors on Wednesday May 4.

This follows the former minister’s continuing to skip appearing before the CID for the second time.

“The CID had asked Priyank Kharge on April 25 to provide details about the information provided in the press conference held at Kalaburagi on April 24 and to provide evidences with regard to the information given in the press conference,” read the notice served by the Assistant Investigating Officer of PSI-CET Scam Narasimhamurthy on Wednesday May 4.

Narasimhamurthy claims that after verifying the details of Priyank’s April 24 press conference, in which he presented audio clips of a conversation between a middleman and the candidate, and his statement that he (Priyank) is still in possession of some evidences, the investigation officers believe that Priyank may have verified their genuineness before going to the media.

Priyank has also been asked to appear within two days of receiving the notice and provide the requested information, informed the Assistant Investigating Officer.
