Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Thursday May 5 that an impartial investigation into the alleged scam in the recruitment of Police Sub-Inspectors (PSI) is underway, and that all those involved will be arrested and brought to justice.
He slammed Congress leaders for making ‘baseless’ claims in connection with the scam against his Higher Education Minister C. N. Ashwath Narayan, and accused the opposition party of engaging in a ‘hit and run’ with no evidence. “The opposition party has to be responsible and should make any allegations with evidence,” he said.
Speaking further he said several cases of question paper leaks and test malpractices occurred during their reign in numerous exams, including PSI and PUC (class 12), yet they took no action. “When we take action, particularly after some of their party members have been arrested, they are concerned that their true colours will be exposed,” he added.
“Whatever complaints have come from whomever, they will be considered. If any documents are given, they will be examined, and an inquiry will be done,” said Bommai. In response to a question about the PSI scam, he remarked, “If there is any truth to it, whoever needs to be booked in the case will be booked.”
The Chief Minister stated that not just Divya Hagargi, who is said to be the prime suspect, but several others are also involved in this case, and that they are all being booked.
Speaking to mediapersons he said that the government is very clear about an impartial investigation and that investigations are underway on a large scale. He also said that over 25 people have been arrested so far, with the number likely to rise as the probe continues.
