Bengaluru: Speaking during the debate on the Karnataka Prison Development Board bill that was passed in the Karnataka assembly on Friday September 17, former minister and Congress legislator, U. T. Khader said that Hindus and Muslims should be put together in the same prison cell, letting them fight out among themselves.

He said, “Why are Hindus and Muslims put in separate cells? Put them together and let them fight out among themselves. Or else they will continue to create nuisance after coming out of the jail.”

Khader opposed the bill and said that it should have tougher provisions. He stated that prisoners are getting all kinds of facilities in jail as they are backed by a few politicians. If the rules are tough in jails, then criminals will think twice before committing a crime.

“Also, those who are imprisoned for the first time, should be sent to hospitals where their minds should be transformed. They need proper guidance, if they are sent to jail they will meet other criminals there and become hardcore criminals by the time they come out,” he added.
