Bengaluru: Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy on Friday launched a upgraded website of Road Transport Corporation and a facility for the e-payment of road and vehicle tax.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ramalinga Reddy said the Road Transport Department would receive Rs 5,000 crore worth road tax per year. “The tax-payers can utilize this facility to pay the tax. It will save the taxpayers’ time. They need not visit RTO offices to pay the road and other tax,” Minister Ramalinga Reddy said.
The minister said the new website has the information about the 25 services of the Road Transport Corporation. “The specialty of this website is that people who suffer from colour blindness can also use it. The services include driving licence, registration of vehicles and the information about the roads in the state,” the minister said.
He said the new website has facebook and twitter facility. “It will enable the public to give suggestions and complaints to the road transport officer concerned,’’ he said.
