Bengaluru: Following the BJP’s embarrassment during the time of the Ramanagara by-polls, owing to the resignation of party candidate L Chandrashekar, it was reported, on Saturday, that the party’s district president, Rudresh had decided to tender his resignation. However, it is now being reported that Rudresh has refuted the rumours about his resignation from his post.

According to the rumours, the district BJP president, displeased with the way the party leaders handled Chandrashekar’s resignation, was intending to announce his resignation at a press conference to be held on Sunday. It was also reported that Rudresh was a ticket aspirant from the Ramanagara constituency.

Rubbishing the rumours, Rudresh clarified that, although he was not happy with Chandrashekar’s decision to quit last minute, he wasn’t considering stepping down. He also informed that he would hold talks with other party leaders and submit a report to the leadership regarding Chandrashekar’s decision to quit the party and re-join the Congress.

L Chandrashekar, who was the BJP’s candidate for the Ramanagara Assembly by-polls, had joined the parry after parting ways with the Congress, only recently. However, in a major upset to the BJP, he quit from the party and re-joined the Congress mere hours before the by-polls, citing lack of support from the BJP leaders. It has been alleged that Chandrashekar’s move was orchestrated by Congress leader D K Shivakumar.
