Ramanagara: Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy said on Friday February 18 that he will run for the next Legislative Assembly election in Ramanagara District’s Channapattana Assembly segment.
Speaking to mediapersons in Channapattana, Kumaraswamy said that he will not move away from the Channapattana constituency. When several of Kumaraswamy’s supporters in the Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysuru asked him about their leader after current MLA G. T. Devegowda announced his decision to join the Congress last week, Kumaraswamy said he would run in the next Assembly election from the Chamundeshwari constituency.
From March, Kumaraswamy plans to tour the entire State.
“The JD (S) will seek public support by stressing the ‘Pancharatna’ (five programmes) of quality education, health, housing, farmer welfare, and employment. If the party is elected to power, it will be implemented. I will quit politics if defeated,” he added.
Kumaraswamy has accused Congress of wasting the Assembly session’s time by refusing to allow discussion on development activities. Every day, the government spends Rs. 2 crore. However, he blamed Congress leaders for unnecessarily creating problems in the session.
Kumaraswamy claimed that the Congress’ padayatra in support of the Mekedatu project was useless and had only one goal and that is to acquire popularity.
