Ramanagara: Former MLA H. C. Balakrishna has said that as soon as the Congress party comes to power in the State, a project will be taken up to supply Cauvery water to the people of rural areas where the water of the polluted Vrishabhavathi river flows for drinking purposes.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a pure drinking water plant set up under the Bammool Fund at Gunduthopu (Kanchugaranahalli Kaval) Village under Kanchugaranahalli Gram Panchayat limits in the Taluk, he said that steps will be taken to supply Cauvery River water, which has passed through Harohalli to Bengaluru, to other villages including Kanchugaranahalli and Bhairamangala.
The Vrishabhavati River is poisoned with the water of a chemical mixture, which is used for agricultural activities. The ground water is contaminated and unfit for drinking. Therefore, as soon as the Congress party comes to power, we will put pressure on the Government and implement the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme,” he said.
When I was an MLA, I had included this village under Kanchugaranahalli Gram Panchayat and got a grant of Rs. 1 Crore for Suvarna Grama Yojana. But the work didn’t go well. I am committed to work towards providing cauzvery water including road, UGD to this region for which people should bless me in the elections,” he said.
