Bengaluru: KPCC Chief G Parameshwara, on Tuesday, denied rumors that have been making the rounds, by saying that former MP and actor turned politician Ramya has not complained against Ambareesh to the high command. There were reports in the media that Ramya had written to high command against Ambareesh over a cheque controversy.

Commenting on the controversy over handing over a compensation cheque to the family of a farmer who committed suicide, he said that the compensation cheque was returned to KPCC as the deceased farmer Lokesh’s wife had no bank account. “The cheque will be handed over by the Mandya Congress unit soon”, he said.

During Rahul Gandhi’s two-day Karnataka visit over the agrarian crisis, a major controversy was reportedly brewing within the Congress because of rebel star Ambareesh.

Housing and District Minister Ambareesh came under fire for giving a cheque issued by KPCC to JD(S) MP- S Puttaraju. Ambareesh allegedly did not follow party orders given by Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi had reportedly asked him to hand over a cheque of one lakh rupees as compensation to the family of farmer Lokesh who had committed suicide.

Rahul had asked the minister to personally visit the village, console family members of the deceased farmer, and hand over the compensation cheque. Digvijaya has also questioned whether Ambareesh was a minister belonging to the JD(S).

While commenting over reports of notices being issued to all ministers who did not attend Rahul’s events, Parameshwara said that no such notice has been issued.

When asked about the long pending cabinet expansion the KPCC chief said that the party has not yet fixed any date for cabinet expansion.
