Ravi Belagere shifted to Parappana Agrahara jail, to apply for bail soon

Bengaluru: ‘Hi Bangalore’ tabloid editor Ravi Belagere has been sent to the Parappana Agrahara Bengaluru central jail after a court remanded him to a 14-day judicial custody on Monday.

Belagere who was produced before the Magistrate post a medical scrutiny was admitted to the jail as per the court orders with an Under Trial Prisoner number 12785.

The court however upheld the request put forth by Belagare’s advocate that his client be given due medical care while in custody owing to his health conditions. Accordingly, Belagare was admitted to Sanjeevani, the hospital within the prison premises, it is gathered. He can be shifted to Victoria hospital or any other if the need arises, said a jail official.

Meanwhile, the CCB and jail authorities met on Monday night to decide on what precautions to take while the tabloid editor is in judicial custody, in prison.

The CCB police, it is gathered did not ask for an extended police custody of the editor since he was not very cooperative with the interrogators nor did he disclose any important information during the inquiry. Moreover, they were fed up with his advice about procedures to be followed with an accused, it is said.

It is expected that Belagere advocate may move the bail petition in a day or two before a sessions court.

Belagere landed in trouble for allegedly plotting to murder one of his colleagues.
