Ready to quit for separate Lingayat religion tag: Patil

Bengaluru: Major irrigation minister M B Patil stated that he is ready to quit from the ministers’ post in order to take the struggle for a seperate religion tag for Lingayats to a logical end.

Speaking to reporters in Koppal, Patil said that getting religious status was the only aim in front of him at this stage. “Ministership is not important for me. I want to take this struggle to a logical end,” he said.

M B Patil informed that he has called a meeting of all those who are supporting the separate religion tag for lingayat community on Monday in Belagavi. “We will take a final call on our strategy and struggle in this meeting,” he mentioned

Meanwhile, senior JDS leader and MLC Basavaraja Horatti stated that he will not care about death threats. “Pursuing minority status for the lingayat community is his last desire of life,” he said.
