Bengaluru: The State Government took strong objection to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly resolution against the State’s project to build a balancing reservoir at Mekedatu.

CM Basavaraj Bommai on Monday March 21 took to social media to criticise the Tamil Nadu government’s move. He claimed that the resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu government is against the law. “It’s an anti-people resolution in which one State takes away another’s rights. The resolution shows that Tamil Nadu does not believe in the federal system. The people and government of Karnataka strongly condemn the resolution,” he tweeted.

He stated that the government is committed to implementing the project. “It is related to the Cauvery which originates from the State. According to the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal, Tamil Nadu should get 177.25 tmcft of water and the State has the right to keep the rest. The government will take all essential steps for the project, regardless of Tamil Nadu’s political decision,” he added.
