Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress on Monday May 30 has named Mansoor Khan as its second candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls.
The Congress claimed that Mansoor Khan was chosen to ‘prevent’ the BJP – JD (S) alliance.
According to sources, D. K. Shivakumar hoped for a JD (S)-Congress alliance, but Siddaramaiah opposed the move and opted to run Rehman Khan’s son Mansoor Khan instead.
He also spoke with Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary K. C. Venugopal about the issue. As a result, a rift has developed between the two leaders.
