Bengaluru: The Congress state leadership is divided over the issue of entry of women into Sabarimala shrine.
While former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has made it clear that the Supreme Court judgement is final and every one must follow it, revenue minister and former president of the KPCC RV Deshpande differed.
In his statement, Deshpande informed that religious sentiments are important. Centuries-old traditions have to be respected and keeping with the times, women empowerment should also be considered. No woman or girl child should face injustice or inequality. A fine balance has to be struck between the two, he said.
