BENGALURU — A 34-year-old individual was detained at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) last week after attempting to board a flight to Delhi with prohibited items. Praveen Kumar, employed in a private firm, allegedly resisted security measures during a routine frisking on Wednesday. According to a report from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Kumar’s bag contained various tools and a measuring tape, which are restricted on flights.
During the security check, Kumar reportedly became confrontational, shouting at CISF officer Shiv Kumar and obstructing his duties. Following the incident, the CISF handed Kumar over to the KIA police, who registered a case against him. Kumar explained to the authorities that the tools were for his job and expressed frustration with the frisking process.
In a separate incident, two loaders at KIA were apprehended for possessing 72 packs of cigarettes. On September 4, customs officials noticed suspicious behavior from Narasimhamurthy M, 29, who was working for a private firm. Upon inspecting his branded shoe company bag, officials discovered the cigarettes. Narasimhamurthy claimed the bag was given to him by his colleague, Manjunatha, who also failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. Customs officer Rahul Bisht filed a complaint against both men with the KIA police. The pair, suspected of smuggling the cigarettes out of the airport, were arrested but later released on bail.
