Bengaluru: Janata Dal (S) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of threatening the party’s candidate in Chamundeshwari, G.T. Deve Gowda, by misusing the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), fearing defeat in the Assembly polls.

Addressing media persons, JD(S) State president alleged that Siddaramaiah’s personal surveys had pointed at his defeat in Chamundeshwari. With an intention of demoralising Deve Gowda, who is all set to challenge him in Chamundeshwari, the Chief Minister had included his (Mr. Deve Gowda’s) name in the Karnataka Housing Board scam, he alleged.

Kumaraswamy said his name was intentionally included in the Jantkal mining scam, though he was not a party to any deal.

Kumaraswamy also alleged that Siddaramaiah was pressuring Deve Gowda to join the Congress or else prepare to go to jail. He went on to say that Mr. Siddaramaiah’s political career would end with Deve Gowda defeating him in Chamundeshwari.

Maintaining that while the BJP government at the Centre was misusing the CBI and other agencies such as IT and Enforcement Directorate, the Congress government in the State was misusing ACB, he alleged. He accused the Congress government of promoting corruption, citing the alleged scam in procurement of laptops as an instance.
