Bengaluru: At a time where every established politician is leaving no stone unturned to promote his children in politics, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has turned down an appeal from the Congress MLAs to field his elder son Rakesh for the upcoming MLC polls.
According to sources, while all the MLAs unanimously bagged fielding Rakesh in the fray, Siddaramaiah did not even mention his son’s name in the final list that was sent to Delhi for approval.
On the other hand, sons of Congress leaders like former chief minister Dharam Singh and law minister TB Jayachandra have been included in the list.
When asked, Siddaramaiah told media that his son will not be seen in the political arena as long as he would be involved in politics. It is to be noted that despite pressure from the political bigwigs, he had refused to issue a ticket to Rakesh to Chamundeshwari constituency even during the 2013 polls.
