Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) in the Legislative Assembly on Monday March 7 to investigate allegations of revenue officials collaborating with the land mafia to fraudulently transfer government lands in and around Bengaluru to private individuals.

CM Bommai said that those who had engaged in such discrepancies would face criminal charges and that the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) will look into a specific case of land grab in Bengaluru north, in which an assistant commissioner allegedly colluded with the land mafia to transfer land worth Rs. 1,000 Crore to private individuals.

During the Assembly session, Janata Dal (S) legislator A. T. Ramaswamy claimed that officials had illegally transferred government land and that the government had done nothing despite the former Principal Secretary’s recommendation.
