Bengaluru: A special CBI court on Saturday, granted bail to former minister Roshan Baig in connection with the I-Monetary Advisory (IMA) scam case.
It can be recalled that Baig was arrested by the CBI on November 22 for his alleged involvement in the case and was remanded to 14-day judicial custody. He was also hospitalised on November 26 owing to blood-sugar issues.
The former minister, who was among the rebel Congress MLAs who defected resulting in the destabilisation of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government, has been questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was probing the case before CBI took over the investigation.
Several politicians and senior government officials are accused in the IMA scam in which a large number of investors were cheated with the promise of earning impressive returns on their deposits.
Several government officials were arrested by the SIT and others, including politicians, were questioned. Managing Director of IMA and prime accused in the case Mohammed Mansoor Khan was also arrested.
