Bengaluru: The first cabinet meeting of the state cabinet, helmed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy after a gap of nearly one and half months, held on Thursday witnessed a war of words between the JDS and Congress ministers over the transfer of officers.
It all started when a Congress minister raised the issue of the year-long transfer orders issued by a JDS minister. Irked by this, the JDS ministers raised objections and asked the minister not to raise any other subjects not included in the meeting agenda.
“But the minister continued to do so. He stated that the year-long transfers will damage the reputation of the government,” said sources.
“JDS ministers, who assumed that the reference is made against them, didn’t allow the Congress minister to go ahead. They asked him to restrict his comments to his department,” sources added.
According to the sources, Congress ministers were not active in the meeting. “Major irrigation minister D K Shivakumar was not present in the meeting, therefore the Congress ministers were low,” explained sources.
