Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa –led BJP government has decided to set up a ‘Monkey Park’ in Shivamogga district in order to control the monkey menace that has been plaguing the people here.

This decision was taken in a meeting on Tuesday, November 5, which was chaired by CM BSY. As per the decision taken in the meeting, the government has decided to construct a ‘Monkey Park’ on 100 acres land in Shivamogga.

Parliamentarian B Y Raghavendra said, “We have identified a barren land near Sharavathi backwaters for this project. Essential feed for monkeys shall be given and in relation to this, fruit bearing plants shall be planted.”

The forest official present in the meeting said that they would conduct a research on the Monkey Park in Himachal Pradesh. For this, CM BSY reacted, “As a pilot programme, construct a park spread across 100 acres in the district and have the research done there itself. If it is successful let us implement them in other district as well.”

State Mines and Geology and Forest minister C C Patil, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister K S Eshwarappa, Muzrai and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary and others were present.
