Bengaluru: Public Works Minister C. C. Patil informed the Legislative Council on Wednesday March 30 that the State government will write to the Union Government requesting for a reduction in toll plaza fares across the State.
“The toll rate is decided based on the construction cost of the road. There is a demand for a toll fee reduction. We will, however, write to the Union government to discuss this,” the Minister said in response to a question from MLC C. N. Manje Gowda.
After several MLCs, including the Chairperson, expressed their displeasure with VIP lanes at several toll plazas, the Minister assured the members that they would be addressed.
Another member, Marithibbe Gowda, raised the issue of ambulances getting stuck at tolls. “Ambulances have been stuck in the toll plaza for more than 10 minutes. There are no toll marshals appointed at the tolls and sometimes there is no one to open the gates,” he said.
