State reports 14 new COVID-19 cases, 10 are attendees of Tablighi Jamaat meet

Bengaluru: As many as 14 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported from Karnataka on Thursday, April 2, taking the total to 124.

Ten of the new patients are those who attended the Tablighi Jamaat in New Delhi from March 13 to 18.

According to the state health department, 107 patients are in isolation. Of the 107 cases, one is a pregnant woman. Three patients are in the ICU, two on ventilators and one on oxygen.

A total of 11 people have recovered and have since been discharged, the bulletin released by the health department adds.

The details of the new cases are as follows:

Patient 111 (24-year-old male) and Patient 112 (22-year-old male) are roommates of Patient 88. They are residents of Mysuru.

Patient 113 is a 14-year-old boy from Ballari and is the son of Patient 81.

Patient 114 (48-year-old resident of the Bilal Colony), Patient 115 (30-year-old resident of Lalwadi Road), Patient 116 (41-year-old resident of Shahgunj), Patient 117 (66-year-old resident of Golekbana), Patient 118 (59-year-old resident of Basavakalyan), Patient 119 (39-year-old resident of Paheli in Hyderabad), Patient 120 (60-year-old), Patient 121 (63-year-old), Patient 122 (73-year-old resident of Kiramani Colony) and Patient 123 (45-year-old) are residents of Bidar (except P119). They all attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in New Delhi from March 13 to 18.

Patient 124 is a 60-year-old woman from Kalaburagi. She is a contact of someone who attended the Tablighi Jamaat in New Delhi.

As it stands, Bengaluru has the highest number of active cases with 41, Mysuru comes second with 21 cases and Bidar stands third with 10 cases. Dakshina Kannada has nine cases, Uttara Kannada has eight, Chikkaballapura has seven, Kalaburagi has two, Ballari has four, Davanagere and Udupi have three cases each, and Dharwad, Kodagu and Tumakur have one case each.

Patients 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 have been discharged. Patients 6, 53 and 60 are dead. There are three more deaths that are being screened and their results are awaited.
