Bengaluru: This is the beauty of our democracy. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi proudly spoke of the days he sold tea at a railway station in Gujarat, yet another tea seller has hit headlines.

Meet Guddamma, 29, a resident of local migrated workers’ colony. She runs a tea stall on the roadside and now she has made it to the Kampli Town Municipal Council.
The results of the recently held ULB polls were out on November 14 and this ushered in new beginnings for Guddamma, who has been voted to power by the residents of Ward number 12 here as a Congress candidate. She trounced her opponent by a margin of 431 votes.
Reacting to her victory, she stated that her priority is to provide basic amenities to the local tribal community colonies and good education for all. A mother of two children, she said she will work honestly as she never assumed that she will join politics or win in the election. Her husband is an auto driver.
