Bengaluru: In light of the increasing number of Covid – 19 cases, the Karnataka High Court has issued a notification on Tuesday January 4 suspending hybrid hearings at the Principal Bench in Bengaluru.

However, the Dharwad and Kalaburagi Benches will continue with hybrid mode; both physical and online.

According to Registrar-General T. G. Shivashankare Gowda’s notification, from January 5 to 14, all hearings would be conducted in virtual mode.

Parties should only appear online and no physical appearances are allowed. Litigants are not permitted to enter the court complex unless the court has issued a specific order to that effect, which must be presented to security personnel for entry.

The virtual mode link will be available in the respective courts’ cause lists and will be hosted on the web. Since Bengaluru District is in a ‘Red Alert Zone,’ all district and trial courts in Bengaluru Urban and Rural (City Civil Court complex and Mayo Hall Court complex) would be closed starting Wednesday until further notice.

Only emergent/urgent matters, bail applications, petitions, and interim applications are allowed to be considered in these courts. According to sources, an appeal was made to Bar Associations to ask litigants not to appear in court unless it was absolutely necessary.
