Bengaluru: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday to take up the Cabinet reshuffle only after Assembly elections in five states. CM Bommai held a half-an-hour meeting with Amit Shah.

Shah is learnt to have told CM Bommai that the Central leaders were busy with elections in five states during the meeting. After the elections, Shah is said to have told the CM that the issue would be discussed.

Shah has suggested that Cabinet expansion to board appointments and corporations be made at the same time.
The results of the five State elections will be announced on March 10.

When CM Bommai recommended for a complete reshuffle by dropping some senior ministers, Shah is said to have advised him to expand the Cabinet by filling vacant berths, alerting the CM of possible dissident actions if senior ministers are removed.

Shah also advised the Chief Minister to meet with BJP President J. P. Nadda to discuss the issue. On Tuesday, CM Bommai is expected to meet with Nadda.

CM Bommai had a long conversation with Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi prior to meeting Shah.

Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Sugar Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa also arrived in the capital. Both leaders travelled to Delhi to meet with the party’s top leaders.
